Wild Wellington - Cover & Maps

I had the pleasure of illustrating the cover and interior maps for ‘Wild Wellington’by Michael Szabo published by the lovely team at Te Papa Press. If you are in the area pick up this great guide and explore all the hidden wildlife around the Wellington Area.

How to Help A Hare And Protect A Polar Bear - USA Edition

It was once again a great joy to work on the American edition of ‘How to Help a Hare and Protect a Polar Bear’ written by Jess French and published by the Nosy Crow US team. There were five new habitats to create for this edition and a slight name change from hedgehog to hare since hedgehogs don’t live in the states. On a recent trip I got to see this edition in the flesh at a local Barnes & Noble always such a treat! If you are are in the USA do let me know if you spot this book in the wild!

Board Books - 'Ma Petite Forêt' - My Little Forest

Here is the second board book I illustrated. ’Ma Petite Forêt’ translates as My Little Forest and is about an owl who flys through the forest at night and invites all the animals to his birthday party. I really loved creating these characters - always love a good forest scene!

Written by Ellie Brough and original published by Quarto Publishing. This is the French Edition published by Kimane. I really enjoyed working on these books and working out how to create each animal model. I love that the models can be disassembled once you have finished playing with them and returned to their slots in the book.

I found this copy on Amazon but haven’t seen them anywhere else. I know there was a German edition also. If you see them in wild do let me know!

Board Books - 'Ma Petite Ferme' - My Little Farm

Excited to show two board books I illustrated. They are translated ‘My Little Farm’ and ‘My Little Forest’ and are written by Ellie Brough and published by Quarto Publishing. These are the French editions published by Kimane. They are 12 page counting books that rhyme from numbers 1-5. The extra special thing about them is they have models that pop out from each page which you can return to their slot once you have finished playing with them! I loved this idea and the challenge to work out how to create each animal model- especially challenging when there weren’t many animal parts present in the image.

The title ‘Ma Petite Ferme’ - My Little Farm is about a very loud rooster who rises as the sun comes up and goes around the farm waking all the animals.

I found these copies on Amazon but as yet have not found them anywhere else. I know they were published in German also. Let me know if you seen them in the wild. I’ll share more about the other title tomorrow.

Happy Earth Day!

Celebrating Earth Day today and all of the weird and wonderful creatures and landscapes that make up our beautiful world. It reminds me of working on this great book with author Jess French and the folks at Nosy Crow a few years ago. The book features 13 different types of habitats and 70 simple things that children and families can do to help and protect our planet. Happy Earth Day everyone!
