This is a piece from my artist statement...

A splendid evening

The Greenslade Gallery 'Garden Party Exhibition' opened last thursday night. It was very well attended - so much so I had to wait for people to clear out before I could take photos of anything. The house is a work of art in itself! It was really great to see so many variations on the theme by some great artists. I feel very privileged to be part of it!  To top off the night a jazz band was playing on the porch and club sandwiches and treats were served on platters in the garden. A lovely way to spend an evening!

If you would like to go and check it out before it closes on the 31st March, the gallery is open Wednesdays 10am - 4pm and Thursdays 10am-6pm. (1 Wellington St, Hamilton).

Holly Brown Artwork - part 2

The third of my illustrations for Holly Brown was based on the idea of a fantastical way to make coffee. Titled 'The Fantastical Coffee Machine' - mixed media.

The fourth in the series I titled 'Hula Coffee' - mixed media. I was inspired by the logo of Holly Brown for this one.

These were so much fun to make and even better to see on the walls of Holly Brown. Let me know what you think of them.

Id like to make the next post about some of the wonderful people I got to work with on this project. Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by!

Holly Brown Artwork

This is the first illustration I was commissioned to create for the walls of Holly Brown. She is titled 'Holly Brown - Lady Gelato' - mixed media. At the opening she came to life - thanks to Cathy Cheng for her excellent make up and hair styling and Jess Davies for her modeling. Quite a close likeness I think!

My second illustration is called 'The First Dance' - mixed media. Inspired by the coffee and gelato characters, the real-life versions walked the streets on opening day promoting Holly Brown, accompanied by Evan Davies on guitar who sang the Holly Brown theme song (more on that later). Thanks Ron and Jess!
