Where in the World
So I have been away from the blog for a while.. in fact over a month to be exact. I have been on so many adventures over that time I don't really know where to start. But most of the time I have been fortunate enough to have traveled around some very amazing countries, holidaying and working here and there - Hong Kong, Amsterdam, Croatia, Italy, Prague and Germany to be exact. And planning the building of a 70 square meter cottage for my husband and I to live in for a while. So my apologies for the long radio silence.
I have just finished work on two Album covers which i will post soon. More illustrations are coming for Holly Brown cafe - new store opening soon in the Elements Mall in Kowloon, Hong Kong. And I have finally had a chance to work on my own personal projects I have had shelved for a while. Very soon this website will have a wee overhaul before Christmas and Ill be having a spring clean clearance in my shop to make room for Christmas goodies. Stay tuned for that....
Earlier this year i was commissioned to create a series of Birthday Cards for an online card company 'The Script House Ltd'. It was a great project to work on and Ill be posting more of them here soon. For now Ill leave you with the above image...
Finalist in the Vodafone Music Awards 2011
I am stoked to be a finalist in the 2011 Vodafone New Zealand Music - Technical Awards for my illustration on the cover of the Bannerman Album - 'The Dusty Dreamhole'!! That album cover was such great fun to make - thanks again to Richie from Bannerman for the opportunity! Check out the amazing work of Nick Keller and Baly Gaudin & Thomas Young the other album cover finalists here
A Long Day
Its been a long week or at least it feels like it! Much to be excited about though, only five more days and we are off to Hong Kong once more followed by a wee bit of a holiday in europe! Cant wait!
Seen and Heard
The 'Out There' exhibition opening at RAMP gallery was great! - thanks to all those who stopped by to say hello. If you haven't seen it yet the show is on till the 10th of August. There are a range of different works from past graduates of Mediarts,Wintec. My friend Gary Venn has some awesome giclee prints and Lynda Wilson had a great take on the recent royal wedding hat wear! Other friends/artists included Hannah Cleland's delightful small hairy house, Ani Fourie whymiscal painting style, and Jane Siddall's beautiful embroidery works - these are just a few of the great works and artists on show. Do check it out!
Also on at present is an outdoor exhibition at the Waikato Museum called 'Collected Fictions' - which my fellow artist Lynda Wilson took part in - her work called 'Bandits' I think is one of my favourites to date! The minature artworks are displayed in what reminds me of a rabbit hutch structure with separate compartments to view each work. Totally worth a look through and is on display till the 21 August 2011.
Meanwhile lots going on at the moment for me with packing & moving house - planning the building of a new one, also heading back over the seas in a few weeks time so working on multiple tasks to complete before we leave.
This is a small spot illustration i made during the chaos of moving house..
